Interview with Kelsey Gates Fashion Blogger

Interview with Kelsey Gates Fashion BloggerToday’s Interview is with Kelsey Gates (Kelsey Lenay Blog Owner). And here are our questions!

Q: How did you first become interested in fashion and why is it important for you?

Kelsey: I have been interested in fashion (and beauty) for as long as I can remember! I honestly will say though, that my interest peaked about five years ago. It is important to me because it is a great way to express yourself-it is almost limitless… you can really do so many different things in fashion!

Q: What inspires you? Who are your favorite designers?

Kelsey: Fashion wise, the seasons changing, color trends and other bloggers inspire me. Day to day life, my inspiration comes from my family, my future career path (nursing) and knowing all of the good that can be done if you just try. Those things really inspire me. My favourite designers: I would have to say I do not have a favorite. Is that shocking? I really just love a little bit of everyone!

Q: What was the most expensive thing you have ever bought?

Kelsey: I LOVE finding deals! So I usually do not splurge on things, because I genuinely like paying a “fair” price for items, and then finding those awesome deals, that you just want to tell everyone about. Probably the most expensive thing I have bought would be a pair of Bearpaw boots.

Q: What are your cost saving tips? Can you share them with our readers?

Kelsey: Use coupons! For whatever you need, if there is coupons available then take the time to get them, and put them to use. Think of how much money adds up when you save just $2.00 on an item, over the span of one year, if you bought it weekly. $104! That is only one coupon for one item-so, it really does add up! Also, make a list of what you need (this goes along with fashion as well). You are less likely to spend unnecessary money, in my opinion, if you have a set list of what you need. Lastly, whenever you have the option to be in a rewards program at stores, do it! Those perks can certaintly add up!

Q: What things do you choose to save money on?

Kelsey: Fashion wise, I choose to save money on plain t-shirts, jeans, tank tops, and necklaces/bracelets. For everything else, I save money on

Q: Do you have money saving tips for our readers when it comes to fashion?

Kelsey: I would say to have a plan. Sure, you have a spur of the moment shopping trip (clothing, food, furniture, really anything) but that does not mean you have to go in with no clear goal. I always make sure to have a list (paper, or saved on my phone) of what I should be looking for. For example, if I take a shopping trip out of the blue, five minutes before I go into the mall or store, I will jot down that I need a new white t-shirt, a pair of sandals, and a pair of jeans. That way, even if I am tempted with some amazing product, I can weigh my options. “Do you really need that? It wasn’t on your list-can you give up one of the items on the ‘need’ list? If not, maybe you should stick with the list”. I know that sounds so simple, but trust me, when you sit and weigh the options, you can talk yourself out of many items! Also, compare stores! It goes a long with planning. If there is something specific you like, a certain style, look online at different stores, or go into the stores and compare prices (if they have the similar item). If one store has a similar, cheaper product that still has nice quality, go for that one! It pays to take the time to compare.

Q: What do you think about taking out a loan for buying something you love? Have you ever taken a loan?

Kelsey: I am not sure I would take out a loan for buying something I love unless it was for a house or a car. It would have to be something big for me to even consider taking out a loan! I have taken out loans, for college. Being in nursing school is so expensive!

Q: What are your TOP 5 favorite fashion blogs and why? Do you mind if we interview them too?

Kelsey: Go ahead and interview them! I have so many favorites, for different reasons. My top five favorites are my favorite because they give me inspiration to change up my style, to go for a trend even if I am not sure if I will be able to rock it! They are all gorgeous ladies, and I love the way they style their outfits! Top five in no special order:

  1. The Honey Bee by Andee Layne,
  2. Katie Did What,
  3. Xoxo Cleverly, Yours,
  4. Vivaluxury,
  5. Dulce Candy

I hope those were good answers for you!
