Interview with Katherine Tabinowski Fashion Blogger

Interview with Katherine Tabinowski Fashion BloggerToday’s Interview is with Katherine Tabinowski (Style Tab Blog Owner). And here are our questions!

Q: How did you first become interested in fashion and why is it important for you?

Katherine: Like many fashionistas, I became interested in the fashion world when I was a little girl. From playing dress up with my moms clothes to making collages out of magazine pictures, it was a passion that stuck. Fashion is important to me because it’s a way to express yourself without ever having to say a word. I also love the creative aspect of fashion and how accessible it is to everyone, no matter what your income.

Q: What inspires you? Who are your favorite designers?

Katherine: I think one of my biggest inspirations is the challenge of creating outfits on a limited budget. One of my favorite parts of blogging is the fact that I can help inspire people to think outside the box with their style. You don’t need to spend a fortune at the department store, that’s easy. Go visit the local thrift store and challenge yourself to find pieces that are equally, if not better, than the big labels. The designers that inspire me include: Betsey Johnson, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu, Timo Weiland & Alice + Olivia.

Q: What was the most expensive thing you have ever bought?

Katherine: My MacBook Pro.

Q: What are your cost saving tips? Can you share them with our readers?

Katherine: Before I purchase, I like to do my homework and make sure I’m getting the best deal. I always compare products and prices before purchasing. I also try to stick to a monthly budget and be realistic about what purchases/payments I need to make each month.

Q: What things do you choose to save money on?

Katherine: I try to save money on groceries, online shipping costs (I live for “free shipping” codes!) beauty/hair products and trendy items that I might only wear for one or two seasons.

Q: Do you have money saving tips for our readers when it comes to fashion?

Katherine: Before I purchase I ask myself “Is this worth the money? How many times will I actually wear this? Do I actually need it or just want it?” It’s all about self-control for me! If I know I’ll wear the item 25+ times I know it’s worth the money because the price per wear will be low. I also try not to splurge on an item unless it’s an investment piece, like a winter coat or separates to wear to work. Like I said earlier, check out local thrift shops and discount stores because you never know what hidden treasures you’ll find!

Q: What do you think about taking out a loan for buying something you love? Have you ever taken a loan?

Katherine: Unless it’s for something big like a car or house, I wouldn’t take out a loan. I have enough student loans to worry about right now and I can’t fathom the idea of taking out another one. I would rather save up for that item. The feeling of knowing I worked hard to purchase it is way more rewarding than piling up more loan payments.

Q: What are your TOP 5 favorite fashion blogs and why? Do you mind if we interview them too?

Katherine: I enjoy these bloggers for their variety of content and unique style: Classy Girls Wear Pearls, Stripes & Sequins, For Chic Sake, Style & Pepper, Suburban Faux-Pas. They would be very interesting ladies to interview!

Thanks for featuring me!
