Interview with Yasmin Colley Fashion Blogger

Interview with Yasmin Colley Fashion BloggerToday’s Interview is with Yasmin Colley (22 year old student and Overly Selected blog owner from Bristol). And here are our questions!

Q: How did you first become interested in fashion and why is it important for you?

Yasmin: I became interested in fashion when I moved to Bristol for University, people dress in some very expressive ways here and I found the style so different from home. I love how fashion trends come back around and the vintage scene. I have so many clothes but I don’t think my wardrobe will ever be full enough!!

Q: What inspires you? Who are your favorite designers?

Yasmin: This might sound silly but I’m not really into any big designers, I could never afford anything that was really expensive so I refuse to look – apart from maybe Jeffrey Campbell’s shoes, I have been tempted so many times.

I’m not really sure what inspires me… anything! I’ve often seen weird patterns or fabrics on something and been like ‘I need that on a top’…

Q: What was the most expensive thing you have ever bought?

Yasmin: To be honest I am a bit of a bargain hunter, I don’t think I’ve ever paid a lot of money for anything- I spend quite a lot of money at a time but usually on lots of little things … maybe a holiday or Glastonbury tickets but on an actual object probably my dress for the winter ball last year which was from Coast and cost around £120.

Q: What are your cost saving tips? Can you share them with our readers?

Yasmin: CHARITY SHOPS!! If you fancy spending the day wandering round shops and grabbing a few new items avoid the high street! I can kill a whole day wandering around the charity shops and come back with 10 items for a total of £25. If I did that on the high street it would be well over £100.

Q: What things do you choose to save money on?

Yasmin: Clothes – where possible, not the amount of clothes but where I buy them from… I never buy designers and only buy a more expensive option of something if the quality is significantly better.

Food – being a student it’s the value range of everything.

Q: Do you have money saving tips for our readers when it comes to fashion?

Yasmin: I guess I kind of answered this earlier when mentioning charity shops! I also tend to look in the vintage and re-worked vintage shops and work out if I could find something similar and cheaper in a charity shop and try and do the DIY myself. Studs are in at the moment and you can pick them up ridiculously cheap on eBay to rework an old item that you’d probably never wear. Apart from that look around, a lot of stores sell the same brands for different prices so figure out where you can get the best deal.

Q: What do you think about taking out a loan for buying something you love? Have you ever taken a loan?

Yasmin: I have my student loan but that’s it, I haven’t ever taken out a loan and don’t think I would. I can’t justify spending money that isn’t really there, once I’m out of money that’s it.

Q: What are your TOP 5 favorite fashion blogs and why? Do you mind if we interview them too?
